REVIEW USDr. Dmitriy O. Khodorskiy is a board-certified gastroenterologist and advanced therapeutic endoscopist at Newtown Gastroenterology, serving patients throughout the Greater New York area. He is board certified in Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, and Obesity Medicine and has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the digestive system, liver, pancreas, and biliary tract.
Dr. Khodorskiy’s interest in medicine began at the age of six, when his aunt, a physics professor at one of Moscow’s leading medical colleges, took him on a tour of a hospital. After moving to the United States at the age of eleven, he continued pursuing his goal of becoming a physician. He graduated from the science program at Midwood High School and went on to attend Hunter College of the City University of New York, where he graduated cum laude with a major in Biochemistry and a minor in Biological Sciences.
Dr. Khodorskiy earned his medical degree from Saint George’s University School of Medicine. He subsequently completed his Internal Medicine residency at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut, an affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He then completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Maimonides Medical Center, which included specialized hepatology training at NYU Langone Medical Center, and served as Chief Gastroenterology Fellow. Following his gastroenterology fellowship, Dr. Khodorskiy pursued an additional year of specialized fellowship training in Advanced Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island (formerly Winthrop University Hospital) under the mentorship of internationally renowned interventional endoscopist Stavros N. Stavropoulos, MD.
Dr. Khodorskiy’s clinical expertise encompasses all aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology, with extensive experience in advanced endoscopic techniques used in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and biliary disorders. He has particular expertise in endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for the removal of large and complex gastrointestinal polyps and precancerous lesions, as well as other complex therapeutic endoscopic procedures. His additional board certification in Obesity Medicine allows him to incorporate the evaluation and management of obesity and related metabolic conditions into comprehensive gastrointestinal care.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Khodorskiy is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University College of Medicine. He previously served as Assistant Director of Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at Maimonides Medical Center, where he was actively involved in training gastroenterology fellows in both general and advanced endoscopic procedures.
Dr. Khodorskiy has been actively involved in clinical research throughout his career and has served as an investigator in numerous clinical trials involving inflammatory bowel disease, gastroparesis, colorectal cancer screening, and other gastrointestinal conditions. He has authored peer-reviewed publications, contributed to a major surgical textbook, and presented his research at national gastroenterology meetings.
Dr. Khodorskiy is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG), Fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE), and Fellow of the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (NYSGEF). He also serves on the ERCP and Cholangioscopy Committee of the Foundation for Interventional & Therapeutic Endoscopy.
Dr. Khodorskiy is fluent in English and Russian and has limited working proficiency in Spanish, enabling him to communicate with and care for patients from diverse backgrounds.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Khodorskiy enjoys spending time with his wife and three children and values the time they share together as a family.
